Start with the day you actually had

Some days have obvious good things. Other days ask for smaller answers. Both count. A good reflection can be as simple as something that helped, something you handled, or something you want to remember.

Prompts to try

  • What made today a little easier?
  • What made you smile, even briefly?
  • What felt better than expected?
  • What did you finish, start, or make progress on?
  • Who made the day better?
  • What are you glad you noticed?
  • What helped you feel more settled?
  • What would you want to remember from today?

What went well examples

  • I had a slower morning than usual.
  • Someone sent a message that made me feel less alone.
  • I made progress on one thing instead of trying to fix everything.
  • I got outside for a few minutes.
  • Dinner was simple and good.
  • I caught myself before making the day harder than it needed to be.

Keep the answer small

The best answers are usually specific. Instead of “family,” try “my sister called while I was walking home.” Instead of “food,” try “the first bite of lunch was exactly what I wanted.” Specific entries are easier to remember later.
